MARCH 7, 2014 “Scott [Davies] has been one of my supporters for more than 10 years, most recently providing me with any Arriba Cases I need for Rock 4 Xmas,” declares Wayne Morrison of Morrison Music and Production, New Bedford Mass. “I just spent some time with him at the NAMM Show in January and he was like, ‘just send me a list of what you need.’ He’s incredibly generous, and I have a lot of respect for him.” For 18 years Morrison has been behind Rock 4 Xmas, which gathers professional musicians for a concert and fundraiser designed to help less fortunate families in his New Bedford, Mass. area during the Christmas holidays (and now it’s extended to a “Christmas in July” show). The list of artist Morrison, also a professional player, gets to join him on stage is impressive and include Eddie Money, Pat Travers, Corey Glover (Living Colour), Eric Singer (KISS), Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple), and many more. Arriba Cases, a spinoff of American DJ that Davies exclusively runs today, manufacturers a wide variety of soft cases/bags for lighting, audio, and combo band accessories. “Wayne’s heart and head are in the right place, and he has done a terrific job making a difference in his community to those in need,” Davies says. “I’m honored if anything I do for him helps this great cause in anyway.” Morrison, who stocks Arriba Cases in his store, adds: “My motivation is that I know I can’t save the world, but I believe maybe we can contribute a little bit of optimism to those who are down in my community. The concerts, which I couldn’t do without Arriba’s support, inspire others to step up, chip in, and help. “And for those we are able to help, get them that Christmas meal, get them some toys to put under the tree for their kids, I hope it makes them feel better, feel more optimistic about things. And what I really hope is that by showing that the people in their community care about them, they feel better about themselves to the point of taking our hand up to help themselves.” The “Christmas in July” edition of Rock 4 Xmas is scheduled for July 5th.
